XIBPro: four layers working together for everyday period protection

XibPRO Menstrual Technology multi-layer protection system

XIBPro Menstrual Technology is a multi-layer protection system used in reusable period wear from Libertad Menstrual. It combines a skin-facing surface, layers that move and retain menstrual fluid, and a protective barrier designed to help prevent moisture from reaching your clothes.

Its four layers —Dry-Feel, Active+, Absorb+ and Leak-Block— perform different jobs and work together. However, absorbency and protective coverage vary from one product to another. Having XIBPro technology does not mean every garment suits the same flow or activity.

How does XIBPro menstrual technology work?

Think of the absorbent gusset in period underwear as a small team: one layer sits against your skin, another moves fluid inwards, a third retains it, and a final layer provides a protective barrier. XIBPro brings these functions together in a slim, integrated structure designed for comfort and discretion.

The essential distinction: absorbing fluid and helping prevent leaks are not the same task. Absorb+ helps retain fluid, while Leak-Block is designed to stop it passing through the fabric. Capacity, fit and when you change the garment still matter.

The four XIBPro layers, from your skin outwards

Each layer has a distinct purpose. Understanding those jobs makes it easier to see how the absorbent area works — and why the layers are not interchangeable.

01 · Against the skin

Dry-Feel: softness and a drier feel

This is the top layer, closest to your body. It is designed to feel soft and help reduce the sensation of dampness by moving fluid towards the layers beneath it. The official XIBPro description identifies organic cotton in this layer.

What about Odor-Stop? It is an odour-management feature associated with the system, not a fifth absorbent layer. It helps manage odours during wear but does not replace changing or washing the garment.

02 · Moving moisture

Active+: moves fluid further into the garment

Positioned below the skin-facing surface, Active+ uses microfibres designed to receive and distribute menstrual fluid towards the absorbent layer.

Its role is to help moisture reach the part of the garment that holds it, rather than leaving it concentrated at the surface.

03 · Holding fluid

Absorb+: retains menstrual flow

This is the layer responsible for holding absorbed fluid. Actual capacity depends on the construction and design of each style, with products intended for light, moderate or heavy flow.

Some high-absorbency XIBPro underwear has a stated capacity comparable to up to 6 tampons. That is a model-specific guide, not a claim for every product or a guarantee of how many hours it can be worn.

04 · Protective barrier

Leak-Block: helps reduce leaks

The bottom layer provides a waterproof barrier designed to make it harder for fluid to pass through the protected area into outer clothing.

This does not make any garment leak-proof in every situation: leakage is still possible if it becomes saturated, fits poorly or fluid escapes beyond the protected area.

What are the everyday benefits of XIBPro?

The value of this system is not just its technical names. It is how these functions work together in a garment you can wear, wash and use again.

  • Fluid management: Active+ and Absorb+ work together to move and retain menstrual flow.
  • Comfort: Dry-Feel is designed to provide a soft surface and limit the sensation of dampness.
  • Leak protection: Leak-Block adds a barrier within the garment's protective area.
  • Discretion: slim layers integrate protection into underwear, so a separate menstrual product may not be needed when the garment's capacity suits your flow.
  • Reusability: washable designs can become part of your routine when cared for according to the instructions.

Does all XIBPro period underwear have the same absorbency?

No. XIBPro describes the protective structure, not a single capacity across the range. Before choosing a style, check three separate features:

1. Absorbency

Low, medium or high according to your flow. Check the capacity listed for the specific product, without treating a tampon equivalence as a guaranteed number of hours.

2. Coverage

Look at how far the protective gusset extends at the front and back. This can matter just as much as capacity for sleeping or activities with lots of movement.

3. Fit and activity

Choose a size that stays in place comfortably. For swimming, select purpose-made period swimwear rather than everyday period underwear.

XIBPro can be found in period underwear, thongs, shorts and selected swimwear styles. The shop also carries other reusable products; check individual product pages to confirm whether they feature XIBPro and how they are intended to be used.

How to wear and care for XIBPro garments

To make the most of the absorbent capacity, match the garment to your flow and change it if you notice persistent dampness, discomfort or signs that it is becoming saturated. On heavier days, you may need to change more often or use additional protection.

  1. After wear: rinse with cold water to remove most of the menstrual fluid.
  2. When washing: follow the care label and avoid fabric softeners or harsh products where the garment's instructions advise against them.
  3. When drying: let the garment air-dry completely before storing or wearing it again.

Frequently asked questions about XIBPro

Technology and absorbency

What does XIBPro mean on period underwear?

It indicates a four-layer protective system — Dry-Feel, Active+, Absorb+ and Leak-Block — designed to manage menstrual fluid and help reduce leaks.

Is Odor-Stop a fifth layer?

No. XIBPro is described as a four-layer system. Odor-Stop is an odour-management feature associated with the technology, not a separate absorbent layer.

Does every XIBPro product hold the equivalent of 6 tampons?

No. This comparison is used for certain high-absorbency styles. Other garments have lower capacities or more specialised uses. Always check the individual product page.

Does Leak-Block guarantee that no leaks can occur?

It is designed to help stop liquid passing through the protected area, but leaks may still happen if the garment is saturated, fits poorly or fluid moves beyond its absorbent coverage.

Wearing and care

Can I wear XIBPro period underwear all day?

There is no universal wear time. It depends on your flow and the garment's capacity. Change it if it starts becoming saturated or uncomfortable; tampon comparisons are not a promise of hours.

Can I swim in any XIBPro underwear?

No. Choose period swimwear specifically designed for the pool or beach and check its protection level. Everyday period underwear is not a substitute for a period swimsuit.

How should I wash garments with XIBPro technology?

Rinse with cold water after wearing, follow the care label and allow the garment to air-dry completely. Proper care helps maintain its performance over repeated use.
